Texas teen wanted in deadly South Station fight has turned himself in
An 18-year-old from Texas who was wanted on a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of a man in a fight that began on an escalator at Boston’s South Station back in August has been arrested, officials announced Saturday.
Marico Levy, of Aubrey, Texas, turned himself into a Texas police station Friday night in connection to the fatal stabbing of 29-year-old Latavius Owens, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said.
An arraignment date has not yet been set, and it wasn’t immediately clear when Levy would be brought back to Massachusetts, or if he has an attorney.
Authorities had been searching for Levy after naming him as a suspect in Owens death. MBTA Transit Police shared surveillance images of Levy back on Aug. 18, asking anyone with information to contact them.
Transit Police initially responded to the report of a stabbing around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 12, Boston police have said. A man was found suffering from a stab wound inside the station, rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The victim was later identified as Owens, of Memphis, Tennessee.
Investigators have said they believe the fight started on a South Station escalator that leads to an exit. Authorities haven’t said what led to the fight, or how they identified Levy as the suspect.
Further details have not been released at this time.
