LETTER: Stop whining about daylight savings time

I could not care less whether we continue to change the time semiannually or not (Friday Review-Journal editorial). After doing it for 66 years, I am kind of used to it now. With that said, after reading your article and editorial, I have some observations.
Guess who grew up in Southern California, went to school during the dark part of the year and lived? Me and tens of thousands of other kids. Same with my husband, a native of Las Vegas. This year Clark County adjusted the school times for its students. South Dakota and parts of Michigan can do the same. You know who never complains about the sun not coming up until after 9 a.m.? Alaskans. Because that’s life. You are where you chose to be, and it is what it is.
If daylight savings time is so bad, why are the proposals not to stay on standard time? Where is advocacy for that time frame? The federal government needs to look at what is best for the whole, not just a few. If you are more severely affected by the adjustment, adjust yourselves, don’t ask the entire nation to do so.
If your state does not like the idea of changing the clocks, be Hawaii and Arizona and do what is good for you and your area without bullying the rest of the country. Give the decision to the states.
