Charlotte region warms up through midweek before rain returns
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - We have been tracking this and giving you the first alert to big changes in our weather pattern across the Carolinas.

After a cloudy, cooler start to November under lingering cold air damming, the wedge pattern is breaking down. Sunday afternoon temperatures will top out in the upper 60s degrees across the Charlotte metro with northeast winds around 10 mph and mostly cloudy skies. While a stray shower or sprinkle cannot be ruled out, rain chances remain around 20% around Charlotte with little to no measurable accumulation.

Alerting you to big changes starting Monday: High pressure moves offshore into the western Atlantic, shifting our winds and kicking off a steady warming trend. Highs Monday will reach the lower 70s under partly cloudy skies, climbing into the middle 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday, roughly 5 to 10 degrees above average, for early November. Expect dry, pleasant conditions for both morning and afternoon commutes through at least Tuesday evening.
Here is your first alert for the second half of the workweek: Rain chances return beginning late Wednesday night into Thursday as an approaching low-pressure system and frontal boundary slide in from the west. Showers will become likely Thursday, with rain chances increasing to 50%. A few rumbles of thunder are possible, though widespread severe storms are not anticipated at this time. Behind the front, rain chances taper off to around 20% on Friday, with unseasonably warm temperatures lingering near 70 degrees into next weekend.
