Bridge closed for repairs staying blocked another week
A damaged bridge in Atlanta will remain closed another week while work crews prepare for heavy construction.
Channel 2 Action News reported when the Moores Mill Road Bridge over Peachtree Creek closed in October after damage to the structure made it unsafe to drive over.
The damage was caused by a heavy vehicle hitting the bridge, damaging its structural support and a water line.

In the intervening weeks, crews performed repair assessments and work officially started this past weekend.
The Atlanta Department of Transportation said the bridge will stay closed as crews get ready to stabilize the bridge to perform repairs.
On Nov. 8, ATLDOT said crews will stabilize the bridge, then the next day they’ll start construction on the wing wall that was damaged.
“Crews will work overnight to minimize disruptions to your daily travel,” according to ATLDOT.
A full timeline of completion on repairs was not available.
