4 dead, 15 injured in 3 Halloween night shootings in Dallas, Texas
This is completely unacceptable for it to take place in Dallas, and we’re going to do everything that we need to do to get everyone in custody that’s responsible for this.
Dallas Chief of Police Daniel Comeaux
At least four people were killed and 15 others were injured in three separate shootings in a Dallas, Texas, neighborhood overnight Saturday, according to Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux.
Comeaux confirmed Sunday morning that investigators were working at three locations after the Halloween night shootings unfolded between midnight and 1:30 a.m. early Sunday. Police have not determined whether the incidents are connected.
“The detectives and officers are still trying to put everything together to understand exactly what happened on each scene, and to see if anything is related,” Comeaux said. “At this time, we have no information that they are related, but we’re still doing an investigation to try to figure that out at this time.”
Our partners at The Dallas Morning News reported four people were killed across two locations, while at least six others were wounded at a third.
Police have not released details about what led to the shootings or publicly identified any suspects.

Police questioning at least one person in connection with shootings
Comeaux said officers had arrested at least one person in connection with one of the incidents and that investigators were interviewing people in custody and witnesses to determine what happened.
“We are interviewing some individuals right now that we have arrested, still trying to figure out exactly how it ties into … all the shootings out here,” Comeaux said.
Police have not publicly identified anyone in custody or announced formal arrests in the investigations.

Police chief praises officers’ response during Halloween celebrations
Comeaux said Dallas Police had increased their presence throughout the Deep Ellum entertainment district Saturday night in anticipation of Halloween crowds. He praised officers for their quick responses to the shootings, saying one officer provided lifesaving care to an injured person and was able to revive them.
“We were fully staffed out here. We had a lot of officers. There was a lot of response out here,” Comeaux said. “We looked at the plan. We knew it was Saturday night. We knew it was Halloween, so we were staffed properly.”
The chief said one officer told him they were less than two blocks away when they heard gunfire and immediately ran toward the scene.
“I mean, those are the things that helps more chaos from continuing on. When you have that presence and you have the officers on the scene that fast,” Comeaux said.
Dallas Police ask public for video of Deep Ellum shootings
As investigations continue, Comeaux urged anyone who was in Deep Ellum overnight and may have recorded video or taken photographs to share that material with Dallas Police. He said investigators were already receiving information but needed additional evidence to help establish what happened at each location.
“We’re really asking the public, if you have video, if you have pictures, anything from social media, anything, please contact us with this so we can try to piece this together and bring justice here,” Comeaux said. “We need all the videos you have. If you have anything, even if you don’t think it may show anything, you never know. We’re already getting information in, and so we need to confirm some of this information. And I’m pretty sure someone has caught the proper footage on video that can help us.”

Outbreak of violence continues trend in Deep Ellum
The Halloween shootings in Deep Ellum are at least the fourth incident this year where multiple people have been injured by gunfire in the entertainment district.
Two people were shot in Deep Ellum early Friday, Aug. 14, along Canton Street. A week later, a man was arrested after shooting three people along Elm Street in the early morning hours of Aug. 23.
In the spring, gunfire erupted along Commerce Street during Cinco de Mayo celebrations, injuring five people.
