U.S. Senator Chris Murphy hospitalized after suffering a stroke
U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke, according to his chief of staff.
Murphy started experiencing numbness in his arm while at his son’s hockey game Saturday, his chief of staff said in a statement. He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors determined he had suffered a stroke.
Murphy was transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring and is responding well to treatment.
“The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery,” the statement said in part.
Murphy has served in the U.S. Senate since 2013.
This is a developing story.
