Shooting outside La Cantera music venue injures man on Halloween
A man was shot outside a music venue near La Cantera Parkway at The Rim just before 2 a.m. on Sunday, Halloween night, according to San Antonio police.
Police said a group of people were escorted out of the music venue after causing a disturbance. As they returned to their vehicles, one or possibly several others opened fire on the business.
A 34-year-old man who was standing outside was injured in the shooting, police said.
At least one witness described scenes of panic following the shooting.
“When I looked out my window, I could see people running, screaming, like hiding behind cars, trying to find shelter,” said Emma Hjortzberg-Nordlund, who lives near the venue.
Hjortzberg-Nordlund said she woke up to three rounds of gunshots.
“It stopped very quickly, so I think nothing major, but still, no idea how many were shot, like if it’s going to continue, like am I safe where I am,” she said.
A Raising Cane’s location roughly a six-minute walk from the venue — which stays open late — also felt the effects of the incident. An employee there said her coworkers heard the shots, and bottles and trash could be seen left behind in the parking lot.
No arrests have been made as of Sunday morning. Anyone with information is urged to contact SAPD.
