NHRA Las Vegas Nationals delayed by high winds at LVMS
High winds have halted racing at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and delayed the start of the semifinal elimination rounds for the NHRA national classes.
Semifinals were scheduled to take place at 3:15 p.m. (Nitro — Top Fuel and Funny Car) and 3:30 p.m. (Pro Stock — Car and Motorcycle). It’s unclear when the semifinals will begin but expected that NHRA will try to complete the semifinals and finals later this evening.
Winds of 60 mph were recorded at the track. No rain has hit the track as of Sunday afternoon, but the region was under thunderstorm warning.
The stoppage came during semifinal and finals for several lower level classes, following the completion of the quarterfinals for the Nitro and Pro Stock.
