Motorcyclist killed in crash in San Marcos

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday when he struck a center median and was ejected from the bike in San Marcos, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of North Twin Oaks Valley Road, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcyclist was traveling northbound when he struck the center median and was thrown from the motorcycle, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies and San Marcos Fire Department paramedics responded and attempted lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was withheld pending notification of relatives by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said it was not immediately known whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the collision remained under investigation.

Anyone with information about the death was urged to contact Sgt. William Clem of the sheriff’s San Marcos station.
