Teenagers killed in Halloween night shooting at Cook Out restaurant in South Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WBTV) - Two teenagers were killed in a Halloween shooting at a Cook Out restaurant in South Carolina.

The deadly Oct. 31 shooting happened around 11:30 p.m., at the Cook Out on John B. White Sr. Boulevard in Spartanburg.

Multiple shots were reportedly fired, according to sister-station WHNS.

Once Spartanburg police officers got to the restaurant, they found 15-year-old Jayden Marek Watson and 17-year-old Shane Carter Dawkins in the parking lot with gunshot wounds.

Both teenagers were taken to the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where they died.

Police told WHNS that a third person was also shot but was expected to survive. There was no word on how old that person is.

“The young people that were out here were not bad young people; they were just kids,” Spartanburg Police Chief Art Littlejohn told WHNS. “After Halloween night, going trick-or-treating, going out to get something to eat, and then someone being irresponsible, pulled out a gun and started shooting.”

As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made and no suspects were identified.

Anyone who knows anything about the shooting should call the Spartanburg Police Department.
