Fire closes Salt Life Food Shack in Fernandina Beach, employees safely evacuated
Four employees were safely evacuated after a fire broke out at the Salt Life Food Shack in Fernandina Beach, Fla., early Monday morning. Firefighters contained the blaze to a second-story patio at 17 N. Fletcher Ave. with no injuries reported.
The Fernandina Beach Fire Department responded to the fire at 6:16 a.m. Fire crews arrived on scene at 6:19 a.m. to find heavy flames coming from the patio on the northwest corner of the second story. Firefighters contained the blaze to that section of the patio.
During the response, a water pipe burst inside the building. The break caused water damage to a portion of the restaurant’s interior.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Salt Life Food Shack is working to mitigate damage and restore the interior, with plans to reopen as soon as possible, a Fernandina Beach city government social media post states.
