St. Louis County police release bodycam video of fatal officer-involved shooting in Oakville
OAKVILLE, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The St. Louis County Police Department released body camera footage on Monday of an officer-involved shooting in Oakville.
Police responded to a house on Tapestry Drive for a welfare check on Sept. 15 after the person inside, Ryan Woods, 40, fired shots inside and outside the home.
After tactical units and a crisis negotiator responded, Woods continued to fire shots from inside the home at police officers and nearby homes, according to police.
Despite multiple demands from law enforcement that he exit the home, body camera video showed police trying to contact Woods through a loudspeaker outside his home before Woods fired shots.
The police department said a St. Louis County tactical officer fired his gun into the residence during the operation, striking Woods.
After multiple attempts to contact Woods, police breached the door and found him with at least one gunshot wound, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and no officers were injured.
The officer involved is 44 years old and has 18 years of law enforcement experience. Police asked anyone with additional information regarding the incident to call 636-529-8210.
