Ground breaks on 2027 St. Jude Dream Home in Collierville
COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (WMC) - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital officially broke ground Monday on the 2027 Memphis Dream Home, bringing the campaign back to Collierville for the first time in 16 years.
Dozens of supporters gathered at The Grove at Clara’s Ridge to mark the start of construction on Southern Serenity Homes’ 20th Dream Home build. For Collierville Mayor Maureen Fraser, the project hits close to home.
“I always say people usually have a story. And people in Collierville and Memphis area take it for granted that St. Jude is here. But until you need it, you don’t really realize it,” Fraser said. “And when I was...many, many, many years ago, I lost a brother to childhood cancer. And if he had it today, it would be cured. And so my parents didn’t have a whole lot. But every little bit of money they had actually, they were always sending it to St. Jude. And of course, I was young. I didn’t understand. But now I really understand.”
Organizers anticipate heavy local support for the campaign.
“You know, the Mid-South has been really great about supporting St. Jude buying tickets, no doubt,” said Greg Bridgers with Southern Serenity Homes. “However, when Collierville falls in, like I know Collierville can fall in, we might sell out in a couple of days this time.”
Tickets for the 2027 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway go on sale in March.
