Rain, thunderstorms return to Charlotte region: First Alert Forecast here
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - We’ve got a little bit of everything in our forecast this week. From beautiful weather for Election Day to a rainy change just around the corner, Mother Nature is keeping us on our toes.
Election Day is looking lovely
Heading out to vote Tuesday?
The weather is on your side. We’ll start the morning with a crisp fall chill in the 40s, but sunshine will help temperatures climb into the mid to upper 70s by the afternoon. No umbrellas needed. Just a beautiful November day to get out and cast your ballot.

First Alert Thursday: Rain & a few rumbles
Our quiet weather takes a turn Wednesday as showers begin moving into the Carolinas, especially across our western communities.
Thursday is a First Alert as rain becomes more widespread, with a few thunderstorms possible. While the severe weather threat looks low, we can’t completely rule out an isolated stronger storm.
Most neighborhoods are expected to pick up less than .50″ of rain, although some mountain communities could see heavier amounts. Keep those umbrellas close and give yourself a little extra time for the Thursday commute.
Cooler feel is coming
A few leftover showers will continue early Friday, but we’ll gradually work our way toward a drier weekend.
Temperatures will stay on the warmer side at first, before cooler air begins settling in Sunday and into early next week. Those cozy sweaters will make a return.
Bottom line
Enjoy a beautiful Election Day Tuesday. Then keep an eye on our First Alert Thursday as rain and a few thunderstorms return. We’ll finish the week with a gradual transition back toward cooler fall weather.
