FIRST ALERT: Warm, breezy ahead of storm risk Election Day Tuesday
ELECTION DAY TUESDAY: Warm, breezy and some sunshine mix in to kick off the day. Highs will top out in the middle to upper 70s. For those voting today, earlier in the day will be better as rain moves in during the mid-late afternoon and becomes heavy during the evening hours. Outside of storms, south winds will gust up to 30-40 mph. A Level 1 (Marginal) severe risk covers the area Tuesday evening, with damaging wind gusts and a brief tornado risk the main concerns. Rain totals of 1-2 inches are expected before tapering early Wednesday morning, with overnight lows in the 50s to near 60.
WEDNESDAY: Rain clears early Wednesday morning, giving way to returning sunshine and a much more comfortable high in the upper 60s to near 70. Light winds and clearing skies overnight will allow lows to dip into the lower 50s.
EXTENDED: Thursday remains mostly sunny with pleasant highs in the lower 70s. A second, drier cold front slides through Friday, ushering in crisp fall weather for the weekend. Highs drop into the upper 50s to lower 60s Saturday and Sunday, with chilly morning lows in the 40s (and upper 30s in outlying West Tennessee spots with patchy frost possible). Dry weather holds into next week as temperatures rebound into the 70s.
