A forensic anthropologist and a DNA expert are expected on the stand Tuesday in the trial of Matthew Farwell, the ex-Stoughton cop accused of killing a pregnant Sandra Birchmore in 2021 and staging her death as a suicide.
Two forensic experts and a medical examiner from another state testified Monday as the defense attempted to cast doubt on the government’s expert testimony.
Opening statements were held on Oct. 9. The case has drawn national attention and is the latest Massachusetts criminal case in the spotlight after the recent trials of Lindsay Clancy and Karen Read. The defense could rest and closing arguments could happen this week.
