‘Cheer Like Cambree’ first scholarship in Illinois awarded
O’FALLON, Ill. (First Alert 4) - The memory of late cheerleader and young daughter Cambree York is being kept alive through the kindness of the community.
The first “Cheer Like Cambree” scholarship was awarded on the Illinois side of the river.
This is the second time a scholarship has been awarded in her name.
This scholarship was completely funded through a combination of donations, a youth cheer camp put on by athletes, a lemonade stand, and St. Louis Blues ticket sales.
Cambree was only in 8th grade when she passed away at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital earlier this year.
Her mother says she got the flu, which turned into weeks in the hospital followed by additional unexpected health issues.
You can view my past reports on Cambree’s health journey below.
