GREENSBORO, N.C. (WBTV) - An officer was attacked during a brawl at a mall in North Carolina this past weekend, a warrant revealed.
The warrant alleged 27-year-old Agustin Medina Mariche threw a punch at the officer, grabbed his protective vest, and pulled him to the ground at the Four Seasons Town Centre mall in Greensboro on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The document said the officer’s hand was cut during the alleged assault.
Mariche also took part in a fight that involved five people at the mall, according to the arrest warrant. The warrant did not say what the people were fighting over.
Mariche allegedly ran from police and dropped a handgun under a vehicle when officers tried to catch him.
Authorities eventually caught up to and arrested Mariche. He was subsequently charged with the offenses listed below:
- Assault causing physical injury to a law-enforcement officer
- Resisting a public officer
- Disorderly conduct
- Go armed to the terror of the people
- Carrying a concealed gun
- Littering (less than 10 pounds)
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
Following his arrest, Mariche was taken to the Guilford County jail.
A bond sheet revealed Mariche had been on probation for possession of a firearm by a felon.
Records showed he was denied bond during a Nov. 2 court appearance. He was appointed a public defender during that same appearance. Mariche is scheduled to be back in court in January.
Four Seasons Town Centre is a three-story shopping mall that is home to more than 140 stores, right off I-40 in Greensboro.
