Democrat Alisa Simmons says Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare called her to concede the race Tuesday night, ending his bid for a second term leading the county.
Simmons, who most recently served as County Commissioner for Precinct 2, clashed repeatedly with O'Hare on the commissioners court, but opted not to run for reelection in her precinct after saying Republicans on the commissioners court silenced minorities through redistricting.
A win by Simmons would be historic, making her the first woman and Black woman to hold the position of Tarrant County Judge.

Simmons and O'Hare were both first elected to the commissioners court in 2022. In June 2025, the county redrew precinct lines in an unusual mid-decade redistricting to create a more conservative court.
O'Hare and the more conservative court members pushed through the redistricting 3-2, with Simmons and Precinct 1 Commissioner Roderick Miles opposed.
Republican Tony Tinderholt and Democrat Jared Williams are running for Precinct 2. In Precinct 4, incumbent Republican Manny Ramirez faces Democrat Nydia Cardenas. Both Tinderholt and Ramirez were also losing after early voting.

In Texas, each of the state's 254 counties has a five-member commissioners court, including the county judge and four commissioners. The commissioners court governs the county. It runs the county much like a city council runs a city, overseeing the county hospitals, sheriff's office, and other county offices. County judges are elected countywide and serve four-year terms. Commissioners represent a precinct; two are elected every two years on staggered four-year terms.
