Las Vegas man faces murder charge in infant’s death
A Las Vegas man has been charged with murder in the 2025 death of a 3-month-old boy.
Las Vegas Justice Court records show Mileke Loven Williams, 29, is also facing a felony count of child abuse causing substantial bodily harm. Online Clark County coroner’s office records identify the late infant as Kai Phan.
A Metropolitan Police Department arrest report for Williams says he was caring for Phan while the boy’s mother was at work.
Williams, police said, called 911 on the afternoon of Sept. 25, 2025, asking for paramedics to respond to a Las Vegas residence for an infant in cardiac arrest. Paramedics arrived and began chest compressions on Phan when they noticed “Kai had bruising to the top of his forehead and right side of his head,” police said.
The child was rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Officers were soon told Phan had suffered a “non-survivable intercranial injury,” police said.
The child remained hospitalized until his death on Oct. 2, 2025. Police said an autopsy showed he had suffered fractures of the skull and ribs, a massive brain bleed and swelling, along with bruising on his forehead. The child’s cause of death was determined to be blunt force injuries of the head with blunt force injuries of the torso considered a major contributing factor. The manner of death was deemed a homicide.
Police said an investigation showed Williams was the only caretaker of Phan when authorities suspect the injuries were sustained. Williams initially told police that while caring for the child, Phan would not stop crying. When he attempted to feed Phan the baby spit up his formula. He reported the child’s eyes to be “gazing and rolling” but he did not think anything of it at the time. The child vomited so Williams put Phan in a swing.
Several minutes later, Williams noticed the child’s breathing was labored, prompting the 911 call.
Police also alleged that Williams stopped cooperating with authorities over time.
“Mileke Williams has not participated further in the investigation and has been uncooperative,” police said.
Williams has not yet been appointed an attorney. According to both his arrest report and Nevada Department of Corrections records, Williams previously spent time in prison for a battery causing substantial bodily harm conviction in 2023.
