Bernalillo County voting results delayed as lines run long and late at UNM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Bernalillo County had not reported a single vote result by 9:45 p.m. as election workers waited for the last ballots to arrive and be cast.

KOB 4 spent several hours at the Bernalillo County voting machine warehouse as absentee ballots continued to arrive in waves.

Election officials told KOB 4 they would not release any unofficial numbers until the last person cast a ballot.

Officials told KOB 4 that around 9:30 p.m., the voting site on the University of New Mexico campus still had about 60 people waiting to vote.

They said it could take a while before the warehouse receives those numbers.

They also told KOB 4 they had no timeline for when counting would be done.

KOB 4 learned some absentee board members had been there since five or six in the morning.

The clerk said absentee board members would stay until 11 p.m. Tuesday, and if ballots do not arrive before then, workers will resume again Wednesday morning.
