Decision 2026: Governor’s race

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Regardless of who wins, someone new will move into the governor’s mansion next year.

The question before voters is whether to keep the governorship in Democratic Party control with former Interior Secretary Deb Haaland or hand the reins to Republican Gregg Hull, the former mayor of Rio Rancho.

The first returns started coming in after 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. by 8:46 p.m., Democratic candidate Deb Haaland was projected to win the race.
