Missouri voters reject abortion ban

ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) - Missouri voters have rejected a proposed amendment that would have made abortion mostly illegal in the state, again.

Tuesday, voters turned down an amendment that would have repealed the 2024 amendment that legalized abortion in Missouri. It would have banned abortion except in cases of medical emergency, fetal anomaly or in cases of rape and incest, if done within 12 weeks.

The amendment also would have enshrined a prohibition on gender transition procedures for minors into the state constitution. Such procedures are already illegal under Missouri law.
