Rep. Nellie Pou reelected to Congress in district Trump won in 2024

Rep. Nellie Pou (D) will cruise to reelection over a challenge from Republican Rosie Pino, the Associated Press projected Tuesday.

Pou’s victory comes only two years after Republicans came within five points of winning a seat the late Rep. Bill Pascrell (D) had routinely defended by double digits.

The 9th District elected Pou, a former state senator, to her first congressional term after Pascrell’s death in 2024, handing her a 5-point victory over Republican Billy Prempeh. That year, President Donald Trump won the 9th District, raising GOP hopes of repeat success this year.
