Texas teen indicted for deadly South Station stabbing, motive still unknown
An 18-year-old from Texas who was arrested last week on a murder charge has now been indicted in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in a fight that began on an escalator at Boston’s South Station back in August.
Marico Levy, of Aubrey, Texas, was indicted Tuesday for the fatal stabbing of 29-year-old Latavius Owens, of Memphis, Tennessee, on Aug. 12 in South Station, the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office said.
Levy was arrested after turning himself in to a Texas police station Friday night. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court. No date has been set. It was not immediately clear when he could be brought back to Massachusetts or if he has an attorney.
Authorities had been searching for Levy for over two months after naming him as a suspect in Owens death. MBTA Transit Police shared surveillance images of Levy back on Aug. 18, asking anyone with information to contact them.
Transit Police initially responded to the report of a stabbing around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 12. A man was found suffering from a stab wound inside the station, rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The victim was later identified as Owens.
Investigators have said they believe the fight started on a South Station escalator that leads to an exit. Authorities haven’t said what led to the fight, or how they identified Levy as the suspect.
