Democrats lead all four Nevada congressional races in early returns
Democrats lead in all four of Nevada’s congressional races in early voting returns, including the state’s usually Republican 2nd District.
Former Democratic Nevada Assemblymember Teresa Benitez-Thompson was leading with 50.3 percent of the vote as of 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, while Republican David Flippo trailed with 44.6 percent.
The winner will replace retiring Rep. Mark Amodei, a Republican who refused to endorse Flippo, leading the Washoe County Republican Party to kick the incumbent out of the organization.
Rep. Dina Titus was ahead of Nevada state Sen. Carrie Buck 60.3 percent to 37.2 percent. Rep. Susie Lee had 60.1 percent of the vote to Marty O’Donnell’s 37.8 percent.
And Rep. Steven Horsford was leading Cody Whipple 60.6 percent to 37.8.
Early results were contributing to a possible Democratic flip of the House amid a possible blue wave.
Boosted by President Donald Trump endorsements, The National Republican Congressional Committee threw its support behind Buck and O’Donnell, an award-winning composer. The national organization placed them in its MAGA Majority Program that provided campaign resources.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, traveled to the Las Vegas Valley to campaign with both of them.
Whipple, a rancher and businessman, never received the coveted Trump endorsement.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
