Editorial: Secret City Council meet violates trust

City Council Chair Tommy Waters, who terms out Jan. 2, hasn’t even left the building yet — but that didn’t stop power-hungry members of the City Council to conspire a regime change. Worse, in the process, five Council members met up questionably — gathering with a quorum without public notice, in what sure looks to be a violation of the state’s Sunshine Law. The law calls for open and transparent decision-making from elected officials, so the state Office of Information Practices (OIP) is now investigating the possible violation. As well it should.
