GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) - A school in Gaston County had to cancel two bus routes this week, officials said.
Hunter Huss High School said Bus 504 and 512 routes will not run Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 4-6.
In a social media post, the school attributed the route cancellations to a shortage of bus drivers.
”At this time, we do not have any additional drivers to send out to run these routes,” the school wrote. “We apologize for the inconvenience this causes and we urge you to find another mode of transportation for those routes this week.”
The school urged anyone interest in driving a school bus to apply. Open positions can be applied for here.
According to Gaston County Schools’ website, bus drivers must be 18 years or older and have passed a bus driver training program designated by the N.C. Division of Highways. Bus drivers are trained and licensed by the state DMV.
