Motorcyclist dies after rear-ending truck during Burke County chase, troopers say

MORGANTON, N.C. (WBTV) - A motorcyclist died Tuesday afternoon after rear-ending a truck during a chase in Burke County, according to state troopers.

Officials identified the rider as 36-year-old Rodney Reese.

Chase ends in deadly wreck

The deadly collision happened around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, along Highway 18 near Zero Mull Road in Morganton.

Troopers said Reese was speeding on a Kawasaki motorcycle while fleeing deputies when he slammed into the back of a turning Dodge Ram. Reese was ejected and died at the scene, and nobody else was hurt.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the chase.
