Charges dropped against teenager in Ellisville attack
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has confirmed that charges were dropped against a teenager.
Abdulwareth A. Alahmad, 18, was charged in an Oct. 21 attack at Bluebird Park in Ellisville. On Nov. 4, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said that all the charges had been dismissed as the evidence did not suggest he was involved in the assault.
In a statement, Attorney Jay Kanzler, who is representing Alahmad, wrote, “All charges against Abdulwareth Alahmad were dropped. He was mistakenly believed to have been a participant in the attack but has been fully exonerated. He had no involvement in any criminal activity. He is innocent and now wishes for his name to be cleared of these charges.”
According to authorities, the victim went to the park around 2 a.m. the day of the attack to meet with a man he had been talking to on a dating site. Four men who were hiding in a nearby bush then attacked the victim.
The Ellisville Police Department told First Alert 4 that three unnamed juveniles have been charged in the Oct. 21 attack, which saw a victim being punched in the head and torso while the suspects used slurs.
Police previously said the attack was captured on surveillance video.
