Video captures arson at Senatobia Police Dept.
SENATOBIA, Miss. (WMC) - Action News 5 has obtained new video of the Senatobia Police Station arson that happened over Halloween weekend.
The video comes from Darkhorse Press, and shows a person using a substance to set the building ablaze.
Shortly after the fire starts, the person’s foot catches fire.
He was able to put himself out apart from his boot.
Garrick Rawls was arrested days later in Huntsville, Alabama. Rawls is charged with maliciously damaging or attempting to damage a building by fire or explosive, a federal offense.

Investigators said they found a partially burned boot, two latex gloves, a mostly burned hammer, and a gas can nozzle near the scene.
The arson occurred amid lingering community tension over Wiley’s death, which was ruled justified by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office last month. While officials previously noted that no official link had been drawn between the fire and Wiley’s death, federal documents now place Rawls at recent demonstrations surrounding the case.
In 2019, Huntsville police arrested Rawls and two other people on disorderly conduct charges after a brief “die-in” protest during the Huntsville Veterans Day parade. Police said the protesters laid in the parade route on Monroe Street for about 10 seconds before they were taken into custody. Protesters said the demonstration was held over the fatal shooting of Dana Fletcher by Madison police.
In 2021, Huntsville police arrested Rawls on a disorderly conduct charge after a group was escorted out of a Huntsville City Council meeting. Family members of people killed in police incidents had been demanding the release of body camera footage during that meeting.
