Man gets 8.5 years for stabbing woman 22 times in the Bronx. Victim says it's not enough

Police are searching for armed suspects who allegedly robbed an 86-year-old woman and her son inside their home in the Bronx — and the mother didn’t even realize she was being robbed until after it happened.

Three suspects forced their way inside the Bedford Park home late Tuesday morning, the woman told NBC New York. She said she didn’t know how to react.

“I was in shock. I was shock. Smiling, I don’t know why,” said the woman, who did not wish to be identified. “The girl was talking to me and the guy went straight to the room.”

Once inside that room, police said the three suspects — one dressed in black and two wearing Amazon vests — put a gun to the woman’s 70-year-old son. The demanded he hand over cash before eventually taking the victims’ phones, credit cards and a small amount of cash from a wallet.

The victim’s partner said at least two of the suspects put a gun to the son’s head during the robbery.

The trio zip-tied both victims before they took off north on Bainbridge Avenue, according to police.

The woman’s longtime partner said he returned home to find the apartment ransacked.

At this point, the victims have no idea why they were targeted. They said the robbers were looking for a lot of money, but added that they might have had the wrong apartment.

That idea isn’t so farfetched, according to building superintendent Freddy Reyes. he said he saw and spoke to at least two of the suspects who mentioned the exact unit number a day prior to the robbery.

“They went inside the elevator but they come out of the elevator and left the building. Then next thing you know — yesterday — I find out that they robbed the lady,” said Reyes, adding that he put his tenants on alert to not open doors for anyone they don’t know.

“I bet now she’s not going to come out of the apartment because she’s scared and that’s sad,” Reyes said of the victim.

The NYPD is hoping to learn the identities and whereabouts of the three individuals depicted in images. Anyone with information regarding the suspects is asked to contact police.
