HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Charges have been filed against a man in the 2007 murder of a woman who was found strangled to death inside her apartment, according to the Houston Police Department.

The suspect, 47-year-old Zachary Harper, is charged with murder in connection with the death of 29-year-old Yoshea Jarmon, according to Houston police.

Jarmon was found dead Sept. 15, 2007, inside her apartment in the 9500 block of Crofton Street. Investigators determined she had been strangled.

According to HPD, witnesses reported seeing a man believed to be Harper near Jarmon's apartment around the time of her death. Police said Jarmon's vehicle was taken from the scene and later recovered near a location where Harper was staying.

Detectives said their investigation found a history of family violence between Jarmon and Harper. Following additional investigation and evidence testing, the Harris County District Attorney's Office was consulted and murder charges were filed.

Harper is currently jailed on separate murder charges related to an unrelated case.

According to HPD, Harper was charged in the shooting death of 26-year-old Armin Mirazimi on Sept. 10, 2023, at 1809 Saint Elmo Street.
