GLASSBORO, N.J. (WPVI) -- Rowan University has canceled all in-person classes on its Glassboro campus Thursday and Friday due to a major utility outage.
University officials said the majority of campus facilities are without heat and hot water because the school's central plant is offline and unable to produce steam.
As a result, students and employees have been impacted across much of the campus.
Residential students are being encouraged to return home if they are able to do so, university officials said.
Despite the outage, all campus buildings, including residence halls, will remain open for students who have no alternative housing options.
The university said on-campus activities may continue to operate.
Officials did not provide a timetable for when the central plant is expected to return to service.
