ICE contractor lays off 89 in San Antonio office after acquisition
Amid preparations for a federal detention center, the contractor assigned to the job has cut local staff.
Government contractor GardaWorld Federal Services will shutter one of the San Antonio offices of ECAM Technologies Corp., its AI surveillance wing, leaving 89 workers out of a job, according to a notice sent to the Texas Workforce Commission. The firm did not give a reason for the move, only saying that it will terminate every employee on Dec. 31, 2026.
The San Antonio outpost came into GardaWorld’s fold in August when the company acquired Pro-Vigil, a local surveillance technology firm. The closure affects the office at 84 NE Loop 410, which Pro-Vigil’s website describes as a Surveillance Operations Center.
GardaWorld declined to comment for this story.
