Three Rivers Art Festival will take over downtown Covington November 14 -15 from 10 AM until 5 PM. Come both days to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the wonderful art!
Artists have to submit their work to be considered as an artist for the event. Only 200 are selected each year.
“You’ll see everything from jewelry to carvings to paintings to portraits so lots of different artists out there,” said Joey Roberts, Artist at Arts Alive. “From that perspective it’s an art community and then you get to wander and it’s right at the Christmas season, you get to come see what they have. It’s the perfect time.”
Artist at Arts Alive Gary Nunez will be there with his carved wood. He picked up the skill from his dad.
“It’s kind of Louisiana hunting style decoys, that’s what it is, I’m just trying to preserve a little legacy,” said Nunez. “You know my dad started it way back when and I kind of picked it up after he passed away.”
The paint on the ducks is done by scratch painting. The ducks are painted and then Nunez takes a sharp knife while the paint is still wet to scratch the feathers in.
Roberts will have his drawings at the festival as well. His tool of choice is a pencil. Roberts says he loves to draw portraits.
“I just grew up with a passion for people and expression,” said Roberts.
Three Rivers Art Festival isn’t only for art loving adults, kids are welcome to join in on the fun. There is a children’s area where children can learn, create and have fun. There will be food and music all weekend long. You won’t want to miss out on this!
