UNM’s Darren Agu Named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After a big performance last Saturday, UNM defensive end Darren Agu was named this week’s Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week after a dominant game against San Jose State.

Agu recorded six total tackles, four solo, including three tackles for loss and two sacks.

He is currently tied for seventh in the nation with 12 total tackles for loss. Here’s what head coach Jason Eck had to say about his impactful player.

“He’s playing like a dominant player. I know I’ve talked to people from all the NFL teams who come in. I’ve talked to people from, college All-Star games that are interested in having him play for him, in those games. And he’s he’s really done a great job of creating value for himself going forward and is playing a really, high level”, said Eck.

Agu and the Lobos will be back in action this Friday when they face off against Nevada.
