BERWYN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Berwyn artist David Gerbstadt believes in the healing power of art.
Creating serves as therapy for him, but he says the best part is sharing it with others.
Gerbstadt has been a creative ever since he can remember.
Since he was a child, standing on a wooden milk crate in his father's workshop, he has been making art.
Starting in 1994, he has been putting his art out around the community for anyone to take.
He says that art is meant to bring joy and that it has to be shared.
Gerbstandt was run over by a tractor-trailer in a tragic accident while riding his bike in 2007.
When the first responders arrived, he had no pulse. But after a long fight in the hospital, he was able to go home.
The accident, although traumatic, inspired some of the messages he now displays on his pieces.
There is always hope, love, and care for one another are some of the sentiments.
Gerbstandt is still making his art and putting it out for the public to enjoy and take.
He now places a QR code on the back of each piece so that you can learn more about his story and even make a donation if you want.
He doesn't expect any monetary donation, and says the feedback alone is what keeps him going.
