Former Madison Co. deputy, K9 handler arrested in death of K9 Bart
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. (WBBJ) - Former Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputy and K9 handler Chloe Swann was arrested Thursday morning around 6 a.m. in connection with the September death of her K9.

Jail records show Swann was booked into the Madison County Jail on one charge of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Her arrest follows an investigation into the Sept. 19 death of 2.5-year-old German shepherd named Bart. Sheriff Julian Wiser previously reported that Swann had left Bart unattended in an outdoor kennel without water for approximately 36 hours as temperatures climbed past 100 degrees. A veterinary necropsy confirmed Bart died of heat stroke caused by severe dehydration.
Swann resigned from the sheriff’s office shortly after the incident as investigators executed multiple search warrants and submitted the case file to the District Attorney General’s Office for review.
