BCSO: Bexar County jail inmate in critical condition after apparent suicide attempt

A female inmate at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center is in critical condition after an apparent suicide attempt Wednesday evening, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said.

A deputy conducting a routine cell check around 7:26 p.m. on Wednesday found the woman unresponsive with a sheet wrapped around her neck, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies entered the cell, cut the sheet and began life-saving measures, according to the sheriff’s office. University Health medical personnel at the facility and the San Antonio Fire Department arrived and took her to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The inmate is a 43-year-old woman who was booked on a charge of injury to a child/elderly with bodily injury.
