North Las Vegas Fire Department names new chief
Chad Oliver has been named as the new chief of North Las Vegas Fire Department, the city of North Las Vegas announced Wednesday.
He is taking over the role held by Joseph Calhoun, who was named assistant city manager.
Oliver, a Las Vegas native, joined the North Las Vegas department in 2007 and has served as a firefighter, captain, battalion chief, assistant fire chief and deputy fire chief.
“I’m honored to begin a new chapter leading the North Las Vegas Fire Department and work with our skilled and dedicated team members to continue delivering the high level of service our community expects,” Oliver said in a release. “Thanks to the investment and commitment to public safety demonstrated by City leadership, we have tremendous opportunities to enhance emergency response, community safety and workforce development.”
City Manager Micaela Moore said Oliver “has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, service excellence and professional development; gaining a reputation as a value-driven leader who embraces challenges as opportunities for growth.”
Calhoun was named fire chief in 2017, and was the longest‑serving chief in the department’s history, while expanding its operational structure and enhancing emergency services, the release said.
