Mild Today, Much Cooler Weekend with Frost Potential Ahead
THURSDAY: Plentiful sunshine dominates the rest of today with mild highs peaking in the lower 70s alongside comfortable humidity and light breezes. Skies stay clear and calm overnight as temperatures dip into the lower 50s.
FRIDAY: A reinforcement of cooler, drier air arrives as a second cold front sweeps across the Mid-South. While the boundary passes through without moisture, you’ll definitely feel the change in air mass as brisk northerly winds pick up throughout the day. Ample sunshine will help offset the chill, but afternoon temperatures will struggle to climb beyond the mid-60s. Once the sun goes down and winds begin to subside, clear skies will foster strong radiational cooling, sending overnight temperatures tumbling quickly into the chilly 40s.
LOOKING AHEAD: The weekend serves up an authentic taste of November. Expect afternoon highs to hold in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees under a variable mix of sun and passing clouds, making for great outdoor fall weather if you have a jacket handy. Nighttime and early morning hours will be especially crisp; regional lows will bottom out in the 40s, while rural valleys and outlying spots across West Tennessee are likely to dip into the upper 30s, creating the potential for patchy frost. Looking ahead, high pressure keeps our weather quiet and completely dry well into next week, allowing afternoon highs to slowly rebound back toward the 70-degree mark by Wednesday.
