Zoox named official autonomous ride hail partner of Las Vegas Grand Prix
Zoox will offer fans rides to and from the Las Vegas Grand Prix starting in 2027 as part of a multi-year deal with the Formula One race.
Officials with Amazon-owned Zoox said they were excited to provide robotaxi service with F1 in Las Vegas, where the company began offering its first commercial rides.
“Partnering with Las Vegas Grand Prix Inc. brings together a shared commitment to engineering and innovation with the people and energy that make this city so special,” said Carly Wyatt, vice president of experience, communications & marketing at Zoox.
“Our purpose-built robotaxi was designed around the rider to make getting around more seamless, comfortable, and enjoyable,” Wyatt said. “Together, we’re bringing autonomous transportation to one of the world’s most exciting sports and cultural moments.”
Zoox already has a presence at previous Las Vegas Grand Prix events. It has a relationship with Atlassian Williams F1 team and has hosted race week activations through the team.
In 2027, Zoox will drop off and pick up F1 fans at Grand Prix Plaza, the hub of the Las Vegas Grand Prix action. The space at the northeast corner of the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane will feature a dedicated zone for Zoox operations.
“Formula One has always been a platform for innovation, and our partnership with Zoox brings that spirit to life in a new way,” Brendan Dolby, vice president of commercial at Las Vegas Grand Prix, said in a statement.
Zoox launched paid rides in August, with those available between major hotels, entertainment venues including Area15, Sphere and Harry Reid International Airport.
Zoox robotaxis are four-seat carriage-style pods with two seats on each side facing each other. The bi-directional vehicles lack traditional motor vehicle equipment including steering wheels and gas and brake pedals and can reach speeds of up to 75 mph forward or backward.
