17-year-old accused of killing pregnant mother, unborn baby in Spirit Halloween shooting
(Gray News) - A 17-year-old is accused of killing a pregnant mother and injuring six others inside a Spirit Halloween store in California, prosecutors announced.
The Solano County District Attorney’s Office charged the 17-year-old with two counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and several weapons enhancements, a press release said.
Prosecutors are requesting that the teen be tried as an adult.
The Oct. 30 shooting killed 31-year-old Constance Hages, a mother of four, and her unborn child.

Six other victims were injured during the attack.
Police reported that as of Monday, four individuals remained hospitalized, including a 19-year-old man listed in critical condition.
Three others, ages 16, 23 and 32, are in stable condition, while two additional victims, ages 19 and 43, were treated and released.
“This heartbreaking loss has left behind four children, grieving parents, and a family trying to face a pain that words can barely hold,” Hages’ family wrote on a GoFundMe page organized for funeral expenses and support for her children.
Smith made an initial appearance in juvenile court Wednesday morning and remains held without bail.
