First Alert: Chilly weekend ahead with below average temperatures
A weak cold front is going to knock temperatures down a few degrees for Friday and the upcoming weekend.
Afternoon high temperatures on Friday will climb into the middle 60s, which is near average, but is 5-10° cooler than Thursday. Another 5-10° will be lost from Friday to Saturday, which means there will be widespread 50s for afternoon highs during the front-half of the weekend.
Sunday morning is going to have the coldest temperatures during this time, and that means widespread overnight lows in the 30s throughout the Mid-South. Since it is past the middle of October, no frost advisories or freeze warnings/watches will be issued. If you have any sensitive vegetation, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to cover it up or protect it for Saturday night into Sunday as well as Sunday night into Monday morning. Despite no warnings/advisories being issued, I do NOT anticipate a hard freeze around the Mid-South, but there will be some patchy frost around.
Afternoon high temperatures will gain a few degrees from Saturday into Sunday, with mostly sunny skies helping things out. By Monday, near average temperatures are expected, which results in middle to upper 60s. Those general high temperatures should be around during the middle of the work week, too, and it is possible for some lower 70s to be back in action as well [especially on Wednesday].
Rain chances will attempt to return to the Mid-South overnight Monday into Tuesday, but this is an extremely low chance of rain. Slightly better chances of rain will try to return on Thursday, November 12th, but there is a lot of time between now-and-then to hash out that part of the forecast.
One last thing to note is to look out for patchy fog, especially on Sunday morning and Monday morning.
Thursday night/Friday morning: Mostly clear skies. Low temperatures will range from the lower 40s to the lower 50s.
Friday: Mostly sunny skies. High temperatures ranging from the lower 60s to the upper 70s.
Friday night/Saturday morning: Mostly clear skies. Low temperatures ranging from the middle 30s to the middle 40s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy skies. Highs temperatures ranging from the middle 50s to the lower 60s.
Beyond that: Sunday and Monday morning will be chilly around the Mid-South with many towns and cities beginning the day in the 30s. Afternoon high temperatures will attempt to climb the ladder, but by Monday, near average, if not even slightly above average temperatures are expected. There could be a stray shower or two around overnight Monday into Tuesday and then again on Thursday [11/12], but overall, rain chances are quite low around the Mid-South over the next week.
