Jamie Davis won’t rule out run for Louisiana governor after narrow Senate loss
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Democrat Jamie Davis isn’t ruling out a future run for Louisiana governor after narrowly losing the U.S. Senate race to Republican Julia Letlow.
In an interview with KSLA Thursday, Davis stood by his election-night warning to Gov. Jeff Landry, whom he declared was “on notice.”
“Well, I ain’t gonna say I didn’t mean it because I meant what I said,” Davis said.
Reflecting on the election, Davis credited his campaign’s focus on affordability and direct conversations with Louisiana voters for helping make the contest competitive.
“The people of Louisiana spoke,” Davis told KSLA. “We gave them a reason to want to be enthused and motivated because we put together a campaign that was truly about the people, and for the people, and of the people.”
Davis said his campaign connected with voters concerned about the cost of living and the state’s future.
“When you go out and visit people at their kitchen tables and you talk about the issues, and you give them hope to believe in a Louisiana that we all can afford and a Louisiana that we all want to live in, you see what happens,” Davis said. “And you know, we made a hell of a run at it.”
