St. Louis mayor outlines city’s winter weather plans
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer outlined the city’s plans for the winter ahead, including changes to snow response operations and the city’s Code Blue program.
Plans follow January storm
Spencer campaigned on going back to the basics, ensuring St. Louis residents get what they pay for.
The plans follow snow removal issues after a Jan. 20-25 storm. Some residents were stuck inside their homes for days after the storm.
Snow response operations
Spencer said the city is improving accountability and transparency for snow response.
“The city is also improving accountability and transparency, a dedicated quality assurance and quality control team, a staffed snow command center, and a real-time vehicle tracking technology will allow operations to be monitored continuously and will provide residents with better information about ongoing response efforts,” Spencer said.
Code Blue response program
The city is preparing its Code Blue response program, with shelters spanning the St. Louis region.
The program will include a data collection component this year. The component will track clients when they enter a shelter and allow the city to help connect them with additional services.
