The City of St. Augustine will host its annual free community recycling event on Friday, Nov. 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Solid Waste Facility located at 601 Riberia St.
The drive offers residents an opportunity to recycle outdated or broken electronic devices, dispose of used cooking oil, and shred personal documents on-site. Document shredding is restricted to a limit of five boxes per city resident.
Acceptable electronic items for recycling include laptops, complete PC towers, hard drives, memory chips, CD drives, power supplies, cell phones, digital cameras, tablets, stereos, printers, scanners, copiers, VCR and DVD players, power cords, and Christmas lights. Household batteries, tool batteries, and car batteries will also be accepted.
Certain items will not be accepted during the drive. Prohibited materials include televisions, hazardous waste such as paint and pesticides, used tires and motor oil.
For residents unable to attend the event, the city accepts recyclable materials daily during regular business hours throughout the year.
Electronic waste can be taken to the Solid Waste Facility, while used cooking oil is accepted at the Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 501 Riberia St. Contact information and event details are available through the city’s Solid Waste and Sanitation Division.
