Mystery swirls after 2 are found shot in the head in East Harlem apartment
An NYPD investigation is underway after authorities found two people — a woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s — shot in the head in a Manhattan apartment late Thursday. Both died.
Police responded to a 911 call about an assault at the Second Avenue building in East Harlem around 8:30 p.m. Arriving officers found a 55-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man both with gunshot wounds to the head.
They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims’ identities have not been released. The superintendent says the man who died lived in the building and that he had cancer. The woman found with him was a home attendant who worked there, he said.
The building super added that recent construction around the building may have made it easier for someone to access the apartments. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
