Part of human skull found in Collinsville creek, police say
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A portion of a human skull was found Oct. 29 in a creek in Collinsville, Illinois, and has been sent to an anthropologist for more information.
Collinsville Police say that Thursday, Oct. 29, there were individuals out looking for Native American artifacts in Canteen Creek when they found part of a human skull.
Police then searched the area, and there were no other remains found. The creek is affected by rainfall, meaning the skull was likely moved from its place of origin by the stream, police say. The skull has not been identified. Police say it was sent to an anthropologist to determine how old the skull is and how long it’s been there.
Police say they also plan to check dental records once they get information from the anthropologist, but that can be a long process.
The police noted that there are two specific missing cases that have gained traction in the Collinsville area. Josh Amos and Donnie Farris are both missing, and police say their dental records were readily available. They were able to confirm that this skull does not belong to either of them.
